The winters get cold in Westland, Michigan, so when Donice
McKinley and her husband installed a gas fireplace in their home,
they thought it would be both functional and attractive.
Functional? Yes. Attractive? Definitely not. Unfortunately
for the McKinleys, the heating contractor only boxed the new
fireplace into the wall without finishing the drywall.
"The finishing look was up to us," says Donice. "We knew nothing
about drywall and were hesitant about picking a number out of the
Yellow Pages."
Where did they turn for a referral to a qualified, remodeling
contractor? As AHA members, the McKinleys have access to pre-
screened and pre-qualified tradespeople through AHA's Home
Remodeling and Contracting Service. Donice called AHA and was
referred to Mark Krutchoff of Great Lakes Products. Mark
inspected the fireplace and completed the drywall finishing job
to the McKinley's complete satisfaction.
"I want to thank AHA for being there," writes Donice. "My next
project is to have electrical work done throughout the house.
You can be sure I'll call AHA to come through again for me."
Finding and managing a reliable contractor for routine or
emergency home repairs, remodeling, or other needs is a breeze
for AHA members through AHA's arrangement with national service
provider associations across the country. You must be satisfied
with any repairs or improvements by AHA's pre-screened
contractors or AHA will resolve the problem. AHA members simply
